If you are concerned about your child's progress at school, before discussing any issues with your teacher have you:

·         Had your child's hearing checked? Hearing loss can severely impact on a child's ability to learn. Hearing loss can be permanent or temporary and can be caused by a variety of factors. For more information go to http://www.nhc.com.au/or call 1800 062 880 for a FREE hearing test.

 

·         Had your child's sight checked? Vision impairment can severely impact a child's ability to learn in the classroom. Vision checks are covered by medicare at many optometrists. To book in for an eye test call your local optometrist. Some Fairfield optometrists are:

Hearing and sight can also be tested at your local community health centre:

§  Prairiewood Community Health Centre (Corner Polding Street and Prarievale Road, Prairiewood Ph: 9616 8169)

Please take the results of these tests to your teacher when discussing your child's learning difficulties.
